The Saga of the Training Pants

Just what we need around our houses. More potty talk. But I'm telling you, this subject is gripping. Fascinating. I'm talking about night time toilet training.

The other day I mentioned that my daughter seems to have graduated to training pant-less nights. This would be a great boon to our budget and to our garbage if it were the case. However, since her night time pees tended to be quite epic, she is a little afraid to ditch the training pants completely. I can't say that I blame her.

So I came up with a plan. For those of you who have children who are a little afraid to get rid of the training pants, this might work for you too. It's the padded panties.

I got a package of six pairs of underwear. I had some fleece around, and that is quite absorbent. I folded the fleece into a rectangle and sewed it to the center of the underwear. Then I sewed the other pair of underwear into the first. The underpants were two sizes too large to make room for the fleece.

Last night my daughter used these for the first time. They gave her a good feeling of security when she peed a tiny bit. They were also less than ten dollars, and they are reusable. I will have three pairs, and I hope that these will last us through night time toilet training. Yippee!
